After super cyclone 1999, Sneha Abhiyan with support from Action Aid and NIMHANS (and SCB medical College) has successfully prevented and managed the psychosocial consequences in the affected areas. Addressing the psychological distress and depression resulting from the trauma of death and devastation around the survivors of the cyclone became the major focus of Sneha Abhiyan. The doctors from NIMHANS and child counsellors trained our staff members (SnehaKarmi)on psychosocial counselling and play therapy. These trained staff, stayed with the victims for 24 hours formulated distinct counseling methodologies to attend to the needs of individuals. There are different Psychosocial care training modules for different groups and the module can be tailor-made as per the need.SnehaAbhiyanis nurturing its experience and expertise in the field of psychosocial care as a future preparedness for any catastrophe event.Sneha Abhiyan has been undertaking Psychosocial Training programs for different service providers such as Anganwadi Worker, School teachers, primary care health professionals, etc.
