There is a saying “Gods tread there, where women are worshiped”. But unfortunately, the women are many a time, facing exploitation and torture especially in the coastal areas of Odisha. Many of them are not aware of their rights, hence they can’t safeguard themselves. In order to raise awareness of their rights and empowerment, Sneha Abhiyan is working sincerely to champion the cause of women. There are two apex women organizations in Jagatsinghpur district namely PratidhwaniMahilaMahasangha in Erasama and NuadigantaMahilaMahasangha in Balikuda working under able guidance of Sneha Abhiyan. Sneha Abhiyan facilitates the organisation of the annual women convention, where the women get a platform to echo their voices.
SnehaAbhiyanorganised more than 200 legal awareness camps at the village level both at Erasama and Balikuda block. Around 500 nos. of problems were sorted out by them through federation and SHGs. Massive awareness has been created through wall painting, brochures, and cultural troops, posters on domestic violence and women empowerment have been developed by these camps, there are many impacts of women federation.
Sneha Abhiyan, a non-governmental, non-profit organization registered under Society Registration Act 1860, is set up to develop and implement solutions that balance the need for food, shelter, rights, income and environmental quality prescribed for all.
